Request a Virtual Visit
Due to the availability of staff and iPads, we may not be able to accommodate your specific dates/times requested. We will do everything we can to schedule your visit in a time that works with you and your family but ask for your patience with this process. Thank you for your understanding.
The Virtual Visit Program is available for patients and their loved ones to receive assistance with connecting over the internet while visitor restrictions are in effect. Those who are not able to use their own devices to communicate through audio or video calls can receive assistance with hospital devices and technology platforms. All patient rooms do have patient phones and you are able to connect via telephone call.
Patients and loved ones can request a virtual visit by completing the form below
Once you have completed the request form, a member of the virtual visits team will contact you via e-mail to confirm your request for connection. This team will support patients and families to interact virtually by:
- Bringing a lending laptop or iPad to a patient room or clinical area, so that you can use it to video chat
- Helping patients and families to use the video chat technology, if required
Virtual visits are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
The availability of virtual visits may be limited by demand, patients’ ability to interact, or the clinical condition of patients at the hospital.
Prioritization of Virtual Visit requests will be assessed in the following order:
- Patients who are critically ill or dying,
- Patients who have been isolated for an extended time without DCP support,
- All other patients
Please Note: If your loved one is in the palliative care unit – please contact the unit staff directly to arrange your Virtual Visit. All Palliative care patients receive a dedicated iPad on admission in their room.
HDGH is committed to protecting the privacy of our patients and staff. When using Skype, FaceTime or similar options to connect with your loved one, we ask that you respect those around you and never include anyone in the video event or camera frame without their knowledge or permission.
