The Rehabilitation Counsellor in the ACT team will be a key member of the interprofessional team. The incumbent will provide vocational rehabilitation services to patients with severe mental illness. The Rehabilitation Counsellor complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
Knowledge of the assessment, planning, coordination and evaluation of vocational rehabilitation programs
Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and core relevant legislation
Knowledge of mental health funding sources for community based workshops, pertinent government, social and labour legislation and programs
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local employers, service providers, stakeholders and families
In-depth knowledge of serious mental illnesses from a biopsychosocial perspective
Experience working with individuals with a serious mental illness
Demonstrated knowledge in applying the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation and case management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with clients
Valid Ontario Driver’s License, means of transportation and ability to travel on a daily basis for outreach services - Required
Education and/or Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Counselling, or Psychology – Required
Master’s Degree in Vocational Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, or Counseling Psychology – Preferred
Previous experience in a similar role
